After staying for six weeks near the Pantheon earlier this year, we knew for this week we wanted to be closer to Trastevere. After some searching, we found the perfect location at the Via Giulia Luxury Design Loft Airbnb.
The location was perfect for walking to most of the major sites (we didn’t go to them but love just casually strolling past the Pantheon), and some of our favorite places from our trip in April, like this hidden charcuterie spot and Trapizzino. Plus, it has a washer (and dryer!) and direct access from the super cute street, so no stairs to get in.
The Airbnb was small, but perfectly fine for two people. It was also incredibly thought out. They maximized the small space and thought of every little extra detail. They had snacks, wine, water, even face and eye masks waiting for us. This was our 17th Airbnb this trip, and was absolutely the most well stocked.
The main room has the kitchen table, small pullout sofa, little coffee bar, and a huge TV. It was a small space, but still very well designed.
The kitchen was one of the smallest I’ve seen, but it worked fine for washing our wine glasses and storing our Prosecco. With a long list of restaurants we love here, we had zero plans of cooking anyway.
The bedroom was good size, with a very comfortable king sized bed and lots of storage. It also has an ancient Roman pillar still intact and nicely lit up, which was super unique and fun to have as the first thing you see in the morning.
The bathroom was down a flight of stairs and was huge! It had double sinks, a large shower, and a huge tub. There was no door, but the toilet and bidet were behind a partial wall, providing some privacy. The combo washer/dryer was in a closet in the bathroom. There was also a display rock light thing in the corner and we still have no idea what it is or how it turns on. (Side note: walking down those stairs first thing in the morning made it very obvious that I’m 40.)
When we arrived, the bathroom was so hot that I was sweating from washing my hands. The heat was rising into the main living area, making it pretty hot as well. We messaged the owner immediately and did some troubleshooting that didn’t work. The next day, the owner came over and did some more troubleshooting, and brought a fan. I think the outside AC was blowing hot air into the bathroom. We kept the units off the rest of the stay and the temperature went down, although it was still much warmer than upstairs.
The owner was kind enough to gift us a hop on/hop off bus tour for the inconvenience. We hadn’t planned on doing any tourist stuff this visit, so it was a nice surprise. And we used the route to get closer to Testaccio Market to get our favorite pizza, CasaManco, so it worked out really well.
Despite the bathroom issue, we enjoyed our stay here. At $1,356.09 for a week, it was average priced. Above everything else, the location was exactly where we wanted to be. I would absolutely stay here again.
Next, we’re off to Naples then Florence, then Milan before leaving Italy and working our way through some of Europe’s best Christmas markets!
