Restaurant Review: CasaManco, Rome, Italy

CasaManco is a little pizza shop inside the Testaccio Market. Their Roman pizzas are on every locals list of pizza to try in Rome, including the insta-famous Pasta Queen.

We spent a day getting lost in Rome and ended up near the market, and were pleasantly surprised to find CasaManco open and without a long line. When there is a line, they use a number system to keep it organized. Just grab a number from the corner of the stall and wait for it to be called.

We weren’t hungry but we still wanted to try it, so we grabbed a few slices. The CasaManco has roasted tomatoes and they are the best tomatoes I’ve ever had. I could seriously eat a giant bowl of them. Even The Husband loved them. One of the tables were open, so we had a drink and enjoyed people watching while we ate.

We loved it so much that we went back, just to get the CasaManco pizza. It was much busier and we got the last slice of the CasaManco. Pro tip: it’s the best pizza and they run out, so don’t go too late in the afternoon! This time there weren’t any tables open but the stall has little counter that you can slide out and eat it.

Since they’re in the Testaccio Market, they are only open from 9:30-2:30. If you love pizza and you love tomatoes, you HAVE to stop here while in Rome.
