Restaurant Review: Nine-Eleven Tavern Buffalo

If you Google “best wings in Buffalo” there’s a pretty good chance Nine-Eleven Tavern is on every list you read. Located in South Buffalo, it’s a hole in the wall dive bar known for having some of the best wings in Buffalo.

Like most of the places on our Buffalo list, we were never in Buffalo when they were open, which is Wednesday to Saturday, 4:30-8:30 pm. Until now. As you read in a few of my other recent Buffalo posts, a work trip to Niagara Falls took us to Buffalo at the right times to try some places that have long been on the list, including Nine-Eleven Tavern.

It was dark and woody inside, they only took cash, and there weren’t many tables inside, which is exactly what I expected based on other reviews.

We had some of The Husband’s friends with us so we ordered 30 wings medium, an order of fingers medium, and some fries. They didn’t have a table for five available and we had our friend’s kid with us so we couldn’t sit at the bar, so we kind of hovered around a little shelf in the window and basically stood while eating.

The first wing I had absolutely lived up to the hype. It was giant but cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the sauce was delicious. The wings are arranged in a layered circle, which looked pretty cool but I think it made the underneath layers a little less crispy. The rest of the wings I had didn’t come from the top and they weren’t nearly as crispy. The blue cheese was exactly how it should be when eating wings in Buffalo.

The fingers were great. Cooked perfectly and the sauce was equally as delicious as on the wings. I would probably order them again over the wings.

The fries were also delicious. They had a seasoning on them that was the perfect compliment to the spicy wings and fingers we were eating.

Overall, everything was really good. The wings were definitely in our top five and you can’t go wrong with delicious fingers and fries. I would definitely go back if I was in South Buffalo.
