We moved to Tampa from NYC almost six years ago, and I’ve always been a little disappointed with the “city” of Tampa. Over those years we’ve seen Curtis Hixon Park, the Children’s museum, art museum, and lots of new hotels and restaurants grow downtown. So when Aloft popped up on the Hillsborough River downtown I knew I would have to stay there.
So as part of my birthday celebration the Husband made it happen. It’s a gorgeous building, with a view that overlooks the Hillsborough River and the stunning University of Tampa.
The view from our room. Probably should have brought a real camera instead of relying on my iPhone…
The lobby was really trendy and super cute. Not really my style but I liked it anyway.
The rooms had a nice comfy bed and plenty of room to move around. The bathroom was a good size too.
Love the decorative pillows!
Decent sized shower stall. And of course I love the subway tile.
But the coolest part, by far, was the amazing, awesome bar top! OMG, this thing was mesmerizing. I literally sat there and lit up the bar top with my cellphone light for a good ten minutes. It’s so gorgeous and sleek. And expensive. If I recall correctly (and mind you, this was at bar so I could be completely wrong) I think the bar top cost somewhere around $20,000. So much for putting it in my house…
Art, you think? Nope! The bar top!
So cool, right?
They also have an outdoor pool overlooking the Hillsborough River and UT. We didn’t use it and probably wouldn’t, since its right outside the lobby.
The staff was all super friendly and we had a great one night stand for my birthday. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in lovely downtown Tampa.
