I started this blog journal as a way to keep my friends and family up to date on all my travels. I never really thought anyone would actually want to read it. Yet people, family and strangers alike, actually care about what I have to say about my travels.
I’ve really learned a lot about myself while writing the last 99 posts. I realized that my husband and my grandma are my favorite travel partners, not because I like them the most, but because I travel like them the most. We like to see as much as possible in whatever time we have and we don’t lollygag around, wasting time relaxing.
I was pleased to see that if I spent more money on a travel luxury, such as first class or a fancier hotel, I tend to shop less. I’ve always felt a little guilty spending money on unnecessary (although amazing) extravagances so it makes me happy in my heart to see that I try to balance the spending out.
I’ve been to all the provinces of Canada, all mostly by train. I never though I would ever vacation in Canada, or sleep on train, and yet 2013 was full of Canadian train travel. Thanks to my grandma, I now know that this city girl loves the vast, untouched country that the world has to offer. Newfoundland is still one of my favorite places ever.
I’m so thankful that I have a job where I only work three days a week, so I don’t even have to take time off to take short trips. For the longer trips, I’m so lucky that my manager knows how important travel is and does her best to honor my frequent vacation requests.
My Husband is such a good man. He travels with my whole family and never complains. He deals with my annoying habits and let’s me (generally) stick to my stubborn ways. I’m forever grateful that I found him.
And I’m so thankful that you actually read my blog. I know that I think I’m funnier than I really am. Sometimes I get really excited about things and post too much. Sometimes I get too busy and don’t post at all. And yet, you still read what I have to say and I’m so so so happy. I like to think that I at least provide some entertainment and I can only hope that I inspire someone to travel.
Cheers to all of you and thank you for reading!
