Restaurant Review: All’antico Vinaio, Roma, Italy

All’antico Vinaio is a panini shop, originally from Florence (Firenze) and now located across Italy (as well as NYC and LA). It was high on The Husband’s list so it was one of the first places we tried. It’s located a few blocks from our Airbnb, so it was an easy walk over.

We went on Good Friday, and everywhere around us was packed, including both locations, which are located across the street from each other. Both serve the same things and both had a long line.

The staff is super efficient so the line didn’t take nearly as long as it looked. I don’t eat a lot of meat, especially when I see it hanging in front of me, so I got the Vegetariana 2. It had Stracciatella cheese, cream of pistachio, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil on a giant piece of bread. The Husband had La Summer, which had Prosciutto, fior di latte mozzarella cheese, tomato, and basil.

They were both very good but it was a lot of food. I could barely eat half of it. It is a takeaway restaurant only, so you kind of just stand around or find a step to sit on while you eat. It was definitely worth trying but I’m not sure if we’ll go back, since Roma is full of amazing places to eat.
