Hotel Review: Martinique New York on Broadway, Curio Collection by Hilton

We made a long weekend trip to NYC to see our dear friends run the NYC Marathon at the tail end of a trip to WNY. We took the train from Rochester so we wanted to stay close to Penn Station.

Since I’m a Hilton girl, we booked the Martinique New York on Broadway, Curio Collection by Hilton. It’s just a few blocks from Penn Station so it was an easy walk, even with suitcases.

We arrived just before 4 pm and the line to check in was pretty long and took forever. There were only two people working and they were with the people they were checking in for at least 20 minutes eachs. And there wasn’t a separate Diamond status check in line. But we had just sat for 7 hours on the train so we weren’t too annoyed but the very lengthy check in wait.

We booked a king room and that’s what we got. Again, just like the Embassy Suites in Buffalo, no acknowledgment of Diamond status and no upgrade. I honestly wasn’t expecting an upgrade because of the number of people who come to the city for the marathon.

The room was fine. Comfortable king bed, giant TV, small but fine bathroom. The view was of a brick wall, as is many in NYC. We’ve stayed at many hotels for less than $491 per night that had larger rooms and a better view, but I’m sure the price was higher than normal because of the marathon. A random long weekend in December is $338 per night, which seems more reasonable for this hotel.

I would definitely stay here again, because it’s very convenient to go to Penn Station and the subway, the Amtrak, MSG if you’re seeing something there, Bryant Park, and the NYC Public Library. But I would not pay almost $500/night to stay here again.
