Kayaking around Weedon Island and through the mangroves has been on my Florida to-do list for as long as I can remember for but some reason I never did it.
I have a few kayaks and paddle boards, but it seemed easier to rent them at ECOmersion kayak and SUP rentals. The process was super easy. You chose between a two- or four-hour rental, or a guided tour. We booked a two-hour rental and headed out into the water.
They give you a laminated map to take with you. It has numbered areas that correspond with the path you need to follow to get the mangrove tunnels.
We paddled all the way to the end of the path and back in under two hours. We had gorgeous weather and the scenery was Florida perfection. I highly recommend kayak at Weedon Island, and stay for the trails and the birding after.
