On a trip to Denver for the Husband’s birthday our flight home to Tampa was cancelled due to severe weather in Tampa. Not something that’s new to us (see the Edelweiss Debacle of 2015) but this time it was the end of the trip and we still had a few days off from work. There weren’t any available flights to Tampa for a few days and we were ready to leave Denver so we played flight roulette and a few hours later we were on a flight to San Antonio.
We arrived in San Antonio late, around 11 PM. Southwest doesn’t provide lodging or any reimbursement when flights are cancelled due to severe weather, so we were free to stay where ever we pleased. After a quick read on trip advisor and some googling we decided on The St Anthony, one block from the Riverwalk. When we check in we couldn’t believe our luck; it was so gorgeous and luxurious! We were impressed from the moment we walked through the doors.
The lobby and main hallway.
We headed up to our room and we were immediately sad that we only had a short time there. Southwest had booked us on a flight back to Tampa the next afternoon.
The room was the epitome of luxury. The first thing you see upon entering the room is a gorgeous bar.
Down a short hall was a bathroom with an amazing shower and one of the best lighting options I’ve ever seen in a hotel.
The shower was perfect and the lighting options were amazing! I love having a vanity light and having a nightlight so you don’t trip over anything was awesome.
We rounded the corner in to the bedroom and continued to be impressed. The bed was large and comfortable and the sitting areas were fabulous.
Bathrobes laid out and music playing on the radio… Best welcome ever.
But the best part (yes, there is something even better!) was the control by the bed. You could turn the lights on and off, the do not disturb light on or off, and adjust the temperature, all from the comfort of the bed!
The St Anthony really knows how to pamper and impress.
After marveling over the room, we walked the short distance to the Riverwalk, so we could see as much of San Antonio in one night as we could. Luckily, The St Anthony is located in the perfect location to see the Riverwalk, have a margarita, and even see the Alamo, all in just over 12 hours!
We had a great mini vacation in San Antonio and if we ever go back we won’t stay anywhere else.
