Restaurant Review: Giotto Pizzeria, Florence, Italy

One of the top places on our Florence list was Giotto Pizzeria, another pizza place in Italy on the Top 50 Pizzas in the world list. My biggest fault when traveling is that I’m not great at making reservations. I hate feeling pigeonholed into a specific time or location when I’m trying to see a city. As a result, we’ve missed out on some really great meals, and Giotto was almost one of them. We decided to take our chances and stop by, and luckily they had a table open!

We went at the end of November and the gorgeous interior was extra pretty since it was decorated for Christmas. The kitchen is behind windows so you can see them cooking, and I love that at a restaurant. It’s fun to watch your food being made and it gives me the illusion that it’s cleaner than a kitchen hiding behind a wall.

The place settings were also so pretty, with beautifully designed glasses and something that became one of my favorite things: a holder for the silverware. Many of the pizza places we went to in Italy had the holders for the silverware and I loved it.

The Husband ordered the pizza special. It had chicken, bacon, and tomato sauce. The dough was cooked perfectly and he loved it.

I had the Aenaria, with ‘fiordilatte d’Agerola, Parmigiano Reggiano PDO 24 months, narrow of yellow tomato, sprinkle red tomato, basil pesto to the Rossi mortar, extra virgin olive oil Fontana Lupo.’ It had the best flavors and the dough was so pillowy and delicious. And it was beautiful!

Since everything was so good, I needed to try the tiramisu. It was creamy and delicious, a little too coffee forward for The Husband but perfect for me.

We loved Giotto. It ended up being my 5th favorite pizza of the trip, which is really high considering how many top pizzas we had. I’m so glad we were able to get a last minute table.
