Every fall I drive from Attica, NY to Zephyrhills, FL with my mother and grandma. We usually take a few extra days to see something that we haven’t seen before. This fall we decided to have a Frank Lloyd Wright weekend. We stayed at the Usonian Blum House at Polymath Park and had dinner at the Treetops restaurant at Polymath Park. The next day we toured both Wright’s famous Fallingwater house and not-so-famous Kentuck Knob house.
I was really excited for dinner at the Treetops restaurant. The menu sounded amazing and the view looked really cool. It was built in a wooded area and surrounded by trees. The large windows made it seems like you really were in a treehouse.

We had a reservation and were seated right away. We had a great table by the window and it was still light enough to enjoy the view before it got dark.
We ordered drinks and the waitress brought over some bread. It was served steaming in a little pot and it was some of the best bread I’ve ever had in my life. I seriously considered ordering 3 more and making it my dinner. But I knew there was even more deliciousness waiting for me.
I ordered the flaming Greek cheese as an appetizer and it was as fun as it was delicious. The waitress lit it on fire at the table and it was perfect; just the right amount of gooey and crispy and the flavor was amazing. The veggies and pita were the perfect dipping accompaniment.
We stuff ourselves full of bread and cheese and then moved on to dinner. I ordered the crab cakes over portabella mushrooms and zucchini with asparagus and a cheesy risotto. The crab cakes were the perfect mix of fresh crab and bread and the risotto was mouthwateringly delicious. I seriously could have licked the plate.
Grandma had the shrimp and scallops, also with asparagus and risotto. The shrimp were a good size and tasted fresh, but the scallops were a little undercooked for grandma’s taste. A quick trip back to the kitchen fixed that problem, but the risotto was still the winner for her too.
Mom ordered the trout and I was very relieved that it came out without a head. It was cooked to perfection, light and flaky, and also came with the glorious risotto.
We skipped dessert because we simply had no room (although we would have taken more bread or risotto if they offered it to us!).
We really enjoyed both the food and the experience at the Treetops restaurant. I highly recommend a trip to Acme, PA to see Frank Lloyd Wright’s houses and have a meal at Treetops.

Drink Selection: 10 (beer, cocktails, and a pretty good wine list)
Friendliness: 10 (the hostess was also the waitress and the person that checked us in for our stay at the Blum House)
Parking: 2 (There were only a few parking spots by the restaurant but they were small and down a steep hill. No handicap parking)
Value: 10 (Yes, it wasn’t cheap, and that was reflected in every bite)
Location: 5 (only because it’s in the middle of nowhere, which is part of the experience)
