Hotel Review: Hampton Inn Charleston

We don’t usually stay at hotels like the Hampton Inn unless we are just passing through somewhere and need to sleep. It’s nothing against hotels like these, but we like a hotel bar and the other luxuries that they don’t have. But we waited too long to decided to stop in Charleston on our way to Asheville so every hotel room was terribly overpriced. And it was in the location that we wanted to be in. The free breakfast in the morning didn’t hurt either.

We were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. From the minute we arrived we had a lovely stay. The man at the front desk was charming and funny and I actually enjoyed checking in. Weird, right?

The parking was in a public lot but it was literally in the driveway for the hotel. Easy in and out, cheap, and protected from the chilly weather.

We had a king bed room with a sitting area and it was the perfect size. The couch was comfy for sitting on and there was plenty of room to sit and catch up on emails, writing, googling, whatever internet addiction you have. There was a nice little refrigerator and microwave area too.

And the bed was like a cloud from heaven. It was glorious and comfortable and clean. I may have been over impressed thanks to the terrible bed the night before at the River Street Inn, but either way, I got a great night sleep.

The bathroom was nice and spacious and clean and the shower was nice.

The hotel is in a great location too. The visitors center is across the street, and there is a free trolley stop right outside. It’s just a few blocks from a large park and there are tons of places to eat nearby.

They have what looks like a lovely pool area. I’m sure it’s nice in the summer.

The only downside was how loud the pipes are. When another room showers or flushes the toilet it sounds like a waterfall right next to your head. But maybe that’s just the price you pay for good water pressure.

The free hot breakfast in the morning was nice. There were plenty of seats and there was a large, roaring fireplace and lots of Christmas decorations. A very pleasant stay for our night in Charleston and I would definitely stay again.
