I visited Parc Omega in Montebello, Quebec, Canada, years ago with my mom and grandma. I’ve always wanted to go back with The Husband, so when I learned about the wolf lodges onsite, where you could dormir avec les loups (Montebello is French Canadian) I knew it was time to go back.
The wolf lodges are specially built chalets with glass walls that back right up to the wolf enclosures (and some have bears, too!). Yes, the only thing between you and the wolves is a piece of glass!
We booked one night there on our recent trip to Montreal and Quebec. At approximately $600 USD ($820 CAD), we couldn’t justify staying more than one night. They do have cheaper options that weren’t available when we booked, such as smaller cabins, yurts, and camping, but they weren’t open yet when we went in April and aren’t right up against the enclosures.

We booked the smallest chalet available, a two bedroom, two bathroom, townhouse. It was beautiful and felt brand new. There was a full living room, kitchen, and dining area, and would be perfect for up two couples, or one family. There isn’t a TV in the chalet, but I spent all that money to watch the wolves, not the television, so it didn’t matter.

The first thing we saw when we walked into the chalet was a pack of wolves, walking right past the window! It was obvious that they could see us, and they were very curious. They came right up to the window and paced around in front of us. Within minutes of arriving, I knew it was worth every penny.

We spent the rest of the evening sitting by the windows, only leaving to quickly grab dinner in Montebello. There were ten wolves in the pack, and they were so interesting to watch. It never got old.

The bedrooms were on the second floor; the main one had a balcony that overlooked the enclosure. The next morning, we were woken up by the wolves howling right outside our window! It was so haunting and beautiful to hear, and so special that I didn’t care that it wasn’t even six am. They were all up on the rocks in the enclosure, close to the balcony. I sat out there the rest of the morning, until it was time to pack up and leave. (I’ll be posting lots of videos on my Instagram.)
Staying at Parc Omega also includes a pass into the park, where you drive your car though a 12 km loop, feeding carrots to deer and seeing bison, arctic foxes, bears, and more. You can buy carrots for $4 CAD at Parc Omega, or bring your own.

It also includes access to an elevated boardwalk where you can see wolves and bears. This is close to the yurts and tents, so you still have the opportunity to see these wonderful animals.

Despite the high price tag, I would absolutely go back. It was really incredible to see such beautiful creatures so close. Experiencing them howling at sunrise will forever be one of my favorite experiences.
