Niagara Falls, USA

Growing up in WNY, I think we took having Niagara Falls so close for granted. The most I did when I was younger was go drinking in Niagara Falls, Canada, when I was 19-21 years old.

Anyway, the Husband and I have gone back a few times but never really walked the majority of the park. I had to stay in Niagara Falls on a work trip so we decided it was the perfect time to spend some extra time at the Falls.

We stayed at the Sheraton in Niagara Falls, and it honestly wasn’t worth writing a review. It’s pretty outdated but they had signs up that it’s being renovated next year. It’s very convenient if you want to walk to the casino and Niagara Falls. I wouldn’t stay there again but I was working a conference there so I didn’t really have a choice.

After my conference was done, The Husband and I walked over to the the Niagara Falls State Park to walk along the falls. We started with the American falls and then walked along the trail to Goat Island and Three Sisters Islands.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day. The weather was just cool enough to be pleasant, and it was nice and sunny. I forgot just how close you can get to the falls and it definitely amplified by fear of heights. I tried to get close enough to look over but I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Thankfully, the view was still lovely.

While rainbows are pretty common there, we saw a full rainbow and I don’t remember every seeing that before there. I shared a video of it on my Instagram and it went kind of viral, with over 150,000 views.

The American side has the better waterfalls so the Canadian side has the better view, and way more things to do. If you only have time to do one side, I recommend the Canadian side, but if you can only get to the American side, it’s still worth the visit.
