Hotel Review: Hilton Whistler Resort and Spa

If you’ve been around for a while you know my love of Canada. Growing up near the border and drinking at 19, traveling through Canada by train and seeing every province with my grandma, and a general love for poutine and Canadian candy has fueled this love for as long as I can remember.

When we found out that The Husband’s family invited us to a wedding in Vancouver I immediately got excited. I loved Vancouver so much and I was really happy to go back.

The Husband’s parents wanted to take us to Whistler while we were there and I willingly obliged. It was on our list but we didn’t have time the last time we were in Vancouver.

The two hour drive was so beautiful! We drove by gorgeous waterfalls and stunning coastlines. Honestly, I could probably spend years in BC and not get bored.

Shannon Falls

We arrived before standard check in, around 1 pm PST, and two of our three rooms were ready. The Husband and I were upgraded to the King Studio with Balcony and Kitchenette and it was a great room with a great mountain view. Shout out to work travel that gives me status for fun travel!

Our room

The sitting area of the room was comfortable for us to have room service delivered for my in-laws, sister-in-law, and us. The kitchen was very well stocked and the fireplace looked easy enough to use (it was summer so we obviously didn’t use it). Unlike my last few hotels, the AC worked wonderfully!

The bed was super comfy with great pillows, per the usual with Hilton hotels. Everything about room was really cozy and great.

We also had a great view. The ski trails were being used as mountain bike trails and it was fun to watch people ride down the mountain.

There were lots of seating areas, both inside and outside of the hotel. The pool and hot tub area looked really nice, as did the bar and restaurant.

Common areas at the hotel

The spa was also delightful. It’s the first Javanese spa in North America (an island in Indonesia) that is apparently frequented by famous people. I was lucky to get a last minute appointment for a desperately needed massage and it was very relaxing.

The Spa

The location was perfect for walking around Whistler. It was close to the main area and the gondola up the mountain was right next to the hotel. You could even buy tickets at the hotel to avoid the ticket line at the gondola (we don’t do heights but my mother- and sister-in-law are much braver and went to the top and had a drink at the bar). The proximity of the trails and gondola make me think it’s also very convenient for skiing, but I’ll just have to go back in the winter to confirm.

The hotel was pretty spread out and there were a lot of stairs. If you went a bit out of the way you could find elevators to the town, but it wasn’t super obvious. People with mobility challenges may find it a bit difficult.

I would definitely stay at the Hilton Whistler when I return for skiing in the winter some day.
