Hotel Review: Loews Philadelphia

The Husband and I have been trying to take some much overdue trips to places we haven’t been in the US. We did a quick trip to Philly a few weeks ago, since we somehow haven’t spent any real time there.

The trip was doomed from the beginning. Our flight was canceled and the American Airlines customer service was awful. We were rebooked with a layover on a little plane, instead of the nonstop in first class that we originally booked. The website said there were seats on the next nonstop, chat CS said they were reserved for new reservations, not transfers. Hello! You canceled us!

Anyway, after almost three hours I was finally connected to a phone customer service person. They booked us on the nonstop but charged us for exit row and couldn’t refund the first class difference. We had to submit a refund request after our flight. For seats on a flight that they canceled.

Our flight was delayed but did finally leave. In the meantime I booked and then canceled nonstop on Southwest as a backup. We would have just flown Southwest in the first place but it got in later than we wanted.

There was a medical emergency on the plane and they called for a nurse or doctor. There was a nurse sitting behind the man so I was off the hook. They laid him down in the aisle and treated him for the majority of the flight. It looked like low blood sugar and the medics were there to transport him as soon as we landed in Philly.

After all that, we finally made it to Philly and our hotel, the Loews Philadelphia. We arrived around 5 pm and the lobby was packed. Seriously, it was the most people I’ve ever seen in a lobby and it’s not a very big lobby. For some reason, most of the rooms weren’t ready, despite being after the 4pm check in time. We were promised a text when our room was ready so we dropped off our bags and headed out.

Hours later, we finally checked into our room. We booked a corner king and the view was great. The bed was super comfy. The AC didn’t work too well but it was tolerable. They had the signature Julien Farel hair products, so I was happy. However, because our room was ready so late, I barely took any pictures.

The view from the bed the next morning was the only picture I took of the room
And one picture of the view

The location was great and easily walkable to a lot of the main sites in Philadelphia. It is only a few blocks from Reading Terminal Market, which is amazing. The butter cake there was one of the top five desserts of my life.

Despite the delayed and hectic check in, I would still stay there again. Especially in the corner room with all those windows.
