Spa Oceana at the Loews Don Cesar

If you’ve ever read my blog you know that I have had a mild obsession with the Loews Don CeSar. We were married there, celebrated a few anniversaries there (I even used our six month anniversary as an excuse to stay), stayed for my birthday, and randomly went a few times just because they had a sale.
Our last stay was pretty disappointing and sort of ended my years-long love affair. We will still stop for lunch, since we love Mario, the bartender, and the food. I may be able to convince the Husband to spend the day at the beach. And hopefully I’ll make it back to the AMAZING Spa Oceana.
As part of my anniversary present the Husband bought me a deep tissue massage. I had recently hurt my shoulder and I have knots the size of Texas all over (thanks to my lovely nursing job).
I headed to the spa after a lovely beach yoga session.

So relaxing!

It wasn’t my first time at the spa (we got a couple’s massage after our wedding elopement, so I knew what to expect). And I was again impressed from the moment I walked through the door.
The staff is so friendly and accommodating. They are warm and pleasant and not at all snotty or pretentious. And they could be, if they wanted. Spa Oceana has one of the world’s most expensive massages.

The spa attendant checked me in and took me to the locker room, so I could change in to a robe and slippers.

All ready for my massage!

The locker room is so nice! They have lovely showers, a steam room, and a whirlpool tub.

So pretty!

Once I was done changing, my attendant took me up to the waiting room, where I enjoyed yogurt covered pretzels and hot tea, while listening to the soothing sound of the water feature.

The waiting area.

When my massage therapist, Kelly, was ready, she came and got me from the waiting area and took my to my massage room. She was very specific with questions about what hurt and my problematic areas. She proceeded to give me the best deep tissue massage I have EVER had! I felt so much better after. My neck was way less stiff and my knots were just manageable little lumps.

She was kind enough to let me take some photos of the gorgeous room too.

The treatment room.

When you go to the spa for a treatment you have access to the rooftop terrace for the remainder of the day. They are comfy seating areas overlooking the Gulf, and you can enjoy a nice drink or a delicious meal. Unfortunately, the Husband was upset with our stay and wanted to leave as soon as I was finished with my massage, so I didn’t get to enjoy the terrace this time.

I hope I make it make for another massage soon!
