Our vagabond life: Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard

I’ve always wanted to see the sand dunes of Cape Cod. For some reason, they seemed much more exciting and romantic than any other sand dunes in the world. So on one of our trips from Tampa to Buffalo we took a detour and went to Cape Cod.

Our adorable and very Cape Cod-like room.

We saw the obligatory tourist things required in New England, like the churches and lighthouses.

The sky was so gorgeous there!

We had Sam Adams and lobster.

I actually couldn’t eat the lobster. I felt so bad when I looked at his poor, dead eyes that I had to send him to the kitchen and have them de-shell him. I mean, he was staring at me with those blank eyes and all I could think was that he was probably a lobster dad and his kids were all alone somewhere…

And we saw my dunes.

It was so beautiful by the water but it was COLD! Sweaters in June? Not my kind of place…

We tried to take the ferry to Martha’s Vineyard but they had oversold the tickets. So we hitched a ride on a cargo ferry.

We got to Martha’s Vineyard and everything was either sold out or closed. So we walked around and gave ourselves the tour. We saw America’s oldest carousel.

But of course it was closed.

We saw the pretty painted cottages.

I can’t imagine living in a people-sized dollhouse.

Then we got lost. We walked forever and it was cold. It started to drizzle and decided I was not a fan of Martha’s Vineyard. We made it back just in time to get back on the cargo ferry back to Cape Cod.

Maybe someday I’ll go back when it’s warm and I can ride the carousel!
