George Eastman Museum

George Eastman, one of Rochester’s most famous citizens, is considered the pioneer of photography and film, as well as a very generous philanthropist. His splendid mansion in Rochester is now part of the George Eastman Museum, the world’s oldest museum of photography.

The museum has rotating exhibits, old cameras, and interesting photography artifacts. But my favorite part is the inside of his gorgeous home.

Camera obscura, which is an image projected through a hole into a dark room. This is an upside image of the house across the street!

Isn’t this house amazing? He was obviously very wealthy, but he donated more than $100 million to schools, parks, dental clinics, and the arts, before taking his own life in 1932, after being diagnosed with a progressive and irreversible spinal disease.
