Borough Market, London, England

Whether you know it or not, if you’re on Instagram or TikTok, you’ve seen Borough Market in London.

Borough Market is a food market that’s been around since 1756 and has tons of viral food stands. Since we spent eight weeks in London in 2023, we needed to try a few of them.

The most popular is the chocolate strawberries. I’m not sure exactly how this gained the popularity it did. It’s literally just fresh strawberries with melted chocolate on top. Of course, it was delicious, but not ‘fly across the world to try’ delicious.

Another decadent sweet is the crème brûlée doughnut. It was exactly how you would expect that kind of doughnut to taste, and it was delightful. We got there near closing time and were lucky they had any left.

There’s also a mushroom risotto that is fantastic. The guys working the stand were really fun and the risotto was delicious.

There are dozens and dozens of food stalls, each with different themes or flavors. One of the best things about London is the diversity, especially the food. Typical British food isn’t known for its flavor, yet London has some of the most flavorful, diverse food. One of the stands had spicy jack fruit bowls and it was so nice to have a vegetarian meal other than halloumi (which I love).

I also had mac and cheese with Bath cheddar cheese, and it was so creamy and delicious.

Last, and possibly best, was Humble Crumble. It’s a traditional British dessert of custard, fruit, and toppings. We each ordered one, which was a terrible decision, but we pushed through and ate as much as we could. It was cozy and comforting, delicious and rich. Due to the sheer size and heaviness, it’s not something I could eat often but I’m very glad I tried it.

Borough Market is open every day except Monday and it’s a great place to try multiple different dishes and cuisines while doing some of the best people watching in the city.
