Tampa Restaurant Review: Graffiti Junktion

I love new restaurants, especially ones I can walk to or ride my bike to. I was pretty excited to see Graffiti Junktion opening in the old Wings Gone Wild space about a mile from my house. They’re known for their burgers, have a great draft beer selection, and tons of TV for the Husband to watch sports on. The art on the walls are just an added bonus.

Our first visit, right after they opened, was pretty successful. We liked the graffiti on the walls, the beer was cold, and the tater tots were delicious! I tried a burger, which I rarely eat, and it was actually pretty good.

We went back a few weeks later and had a bit of a strange experience. My second beer was served with am airport luggage tag inside! I wasn’t even mad; I thought it was kind of funny and definitely fitting that I got that glass. But then the bartender insisted that I put it in there. Now come on. Why would I ruin a perfectly good beer? Not to mention we rode our bikes there and I didn’t even have a purse, let alone a suitcase. I was not impressed and decided right there I wasn’t going back. Luckily my veggie burger was pretty delicious so it wasn’t a total waste.

Well, we ended up getting a coupon for a free draft beer at Taste of South Tampa, so the Husband convinced me to go back. I mean, how can I say no to a free beer? So I went back one more time, secretly hoping they would redeem themselves. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I ordered a turkey burger and tater tots. The turkey burger was served undercooked an I’m pretty sure the entire fryer of grease was on my plate with my tots.

Kinda makes you not want to put that in your body, eh?

The bartender sent my burger back to be fully cooked, but by then I was kind of grossed out and lost my appetite.

I wish that every visit had been as good as the first. I like the idea of the place and I can get over the food issue. But I just can’t get over the bartender accusing me of something so ridiculous and talking about me to the other bartender when she thought I couldn’t hear. I expect respectful, pleasant service when I’m out to dinner. Luckily there are plenty of choices in Tampa!
